Round 7 Junior Netball Wrap-Up

Round 7 for the 10/Under Juniors started with a new format this week to enable new players who are ready to get some court time in to do just that, play netball.

Court 1 was the Beach Babes against Michelle's Minkes, the Minkes are straight up from Net Set Go but were more than ready to play, both teams demonstrated great skills on court.  Edie Thurtell dominated in the shooting circle to score for the Beach Babes to win.

Teshara Viola for the Minkes showed exceptional court skills in both attack and defence to be awarded best on court fro the Minkes.  The Young Stars played Mixed Pink, the Mixed Pink team is made up of team players who are sitting off due to many teams having more that 7 players, so all players are now on court playing, the Young Stars had a battle on their hands against the Pink team who gelled together well from the start and continued to attack and defend extremely well.

Best players Michela Nisbett, Georgia Crimmins, Jordan Hunt and Ella Cairns.

The Diamonds played the Pythons on court 1 for the 12/Under Competition, the Pythons played a great defensive game against the Diamonds they intercepted many attacking plays and kept the pressure on, the Diamonds came away with the win 25-9 with best players Tayhla Cadiente and Kyah Francis.

The Saints played Extreme in in windy conditions.  The game was fast paced with the Saints scoring 6 points in the 1st half despite great defence from the up and coming Extreme.

Jaime Thurtell and Stella Burnett were in fine form as GA and GK and Maddison Santarossa read the play well after bouncing back from injury.  Sophee Watson from Beach babes filled in as GK and showed great skill (thanks for playing up).

Jenna Kerswell, Carla Young and Allie Siebel worked well in the goal circle though were not able to match the Saints this week.  Final score 9-1.

The 14-16 Competition on court 1 had the Young guns 1 play the Hot Shots, in a fast game with the Young Guns defeating the Hot Shots 16-2.

The Hot shots defended well but the Young Guns had more posession, best players Lucy Webster, Shania Jacobsen, Cartier Bennett and Ella Dodds.  The Strikers played the Young Guns 2 team, Young Guns put in a fantastic game, the team just needs to settle and gel and they will be very competitive as the Strikers had to earn every goal.

Best players Kourtney Briggs, Daisy Hawkes, Samaria Denman and Sophie May, final score Strikers 27-8.

On court 3 the 12/Under Reps will be playing a mixed team which consists of players sitting off from their normal teams in the 14-16 competition, this is to give the 12s Reps some game time against stronger and older opposition to ready them for the representative carnival and give more court time for players who would normally be sitting off.

Hopefully, next week someone will fill out a score sheet so the results and players can be reported on.
