Forensic Unit attends Port crime scene

A resident of Ti Tree Resort in Port Douglas had his sliding door window smashed in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Craig Bannister said champagne bottles were thrown through the window at 12.50am yesterday, causing shards of glass to be strewn about his living room.

Mr Bannister told The Newsport he was forced to contact Cairns Police, whose Forensic Crime Unit attended the scene, as he was unable to get a response from Port Douglas or Mossman Police who were apparently off-duty until 8am.

The alleged offender was reportedly driving a red, late model Holden Commodore, with red P-Plates displayed.

Port Douglas and Cairns Police were unavailable for comment at the time of reporting.
