Mums go extreme this Mother's Day

A leading gift website has revealed that mums across Australia are thinking out of the typical gift box, with extreme adventure presents on the rise this Mother’s Day.

Gift website Gift It Now has noticed a significant increase this year for gift bookings of adventurous experiences ahead of Mother’s Day, with skydiving, hot air ballooning and jet boating proving to be the three most popular choices this year.

General Manager of Gift It Now Clint Gudenswager said adventurous gift bookings had doubled already for Mother’s Day, compared to last year’s figures.

“There’s been a massive 115% increase in adventurous gift purchases for mums ahead of Mother’s Day already,” Mr Gudenswager said.

“It’s a significant indication that there is a growing trend of mothers who are interested in exploring corners of Australia and trying something daring and different.

“All we can hope is that it is actually our Aussie mums who are becoming more adventurous and not just their kids buying extreme gifts to coax them into their own interests,” Mr Gudenswager said.

But for those of you not willing to throw your mum off a cliff this Mother's Day, there are plenty of slightly more civilised ways to say thanks including spa treatments, home wares, and traditional flowers and a lovely lunch.

Be quick, though, as Mother's Day is this Sunday!
