Under 8 Crocs impress at home
by Matthew Scott
Eleven very excited Under 8s Crocs were keen to impress after a three-week break and play their first home game of the year at the Croc Pit in front of a vocal home crowd in perfect playing conditions on Sunday.
After an even first quarter the mighty Under 8s started to hit their straps with some quick and fancy ball movement. In the middle, the experienced big Taj was getting on top of the ruck and feeding on first use of the ball to zippy rovers Ethan, Tyler, and Jetson who played his best game of the year.
Down back, big bad Gus prevented many Hawks' attacks and was well supported by Andrew, little Taj and Jessiah who, after a heavy knock, recovered and played a great game.
Up forward, nippy rover and new Carlton supporter Hayden was creative as was Oren. A huge roar erupted when crowd favourite Jai slotted his first ever goal with some fancy foot work. First gamer Jonte, who will only improve as the year progresses, also impressed with some thumping long kicks.
Coach's awards went to Jetson, Hayden, Jonte and Gus.
