Businesses of the Douglas region take note – voting is now open for the 2013 Douglas Business Awards.

The voting forms have arrived at The Newsport offices and the excitement is starting to mount, with speculation on which businesses and individuals could take the cake at the region’s gala business awards, now in its fourth year.

New categories have been added in 2013 along with expanded existing categories to support an even wider variety of business sectors. New awards have been introduced for individual tradies, trades and services businesses and the professional sector.

Categories in dining, tourism, accommodation and retail sectors still exist, along with awards for wedding, health, beauty and fitness providers, as well as events and entertainment and real estate.

Local residents and visitors alike are invited to vote, with a chance to win a long weekend at QT Resort Port Douglas for those who vote in four or more award categories.

So, if you would like your business to start receiving votes, there are a few ways to start voting: drop in and see us at The Newsport offices (opposite the Port Douglas Post Office) to collect a voting pad, grab issue 10 of Port Douglas Magazine or look out for the online voting form on The Newsport (coming soon).

Once all the votes have been received (voting closes Tuesday, October 1), the winners will be announced at the gala awards night on Friday, October 19, at a venue to be confirmed.

We’re sure it will be as glitzy as last year’s event, which saw 190 people turn out in style on the red carpet at Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas to accept their nominations and awards.
