Jeff Martin of the Canadian band The Tea Party returns to an intimate solo format at The Tanks Art Centre on Saturday, April 20.

Jeff will be performing the best of The Tea Party plus an array of his solo offerings and a few newly-found treasures, which brings back a lot of what made The Tea Party so special - the blues, the mystique, the Indian and Middle Eastern influences.

The Tea Party was formed in 1990 by Martin, Stuart Chatwood and Jeff Burrows, releasing their debut album in 1991 and celebrated their biggest commercial success with the platinum album The Edges of Twilight (1995), and later Transmission (1997), Triptych (1999) in which the single Heaven Coming Down rose to number on Canadian radio.

After the band released four more albums in the early 2000s and worked with symphony orchestras before The Tea Party disbanded in 2006, Martin taking on a solo career which included the live album “Live in Brisbane 2006”. The band then reformed in 2011 and has amassed a total of 12 Australian tours.

In addition to Jeff’s elegant and powerful voice, his music has endeared itself to a huge fan base on the strength of its rich palette and adventurous scope. This is a great opportunity to see an international performer in an up close and personal setting.

Martin will be supported by Australian songwriter, Jeremiah Johnson, whose music blends ambient slide guitar with folk, world, roots, country and rock styles, earning him support act status with Gomez, Angus and Julia Stone and Harry Manx.

The show starts at 7.30pm on Saturday, April 20 at Tank 5 with drinks and Indian food available.
