Port Douglas artist wins with marine design.

The Cairns and Far North Environment Centre, Tangaroa Blue and the Douglas Shire Sustainability Group recently ran a competition for Port Douglas artists to create a design for an iconic Port Douglas reusable shopping bag as part of the 'Think Outside the Bag' project.

Congratulations goes to Port Douglas local, Jenni Fox on her amazing winning design that has captured the natural beauty of Port Douglas.

Having worked as a Marine Biologist for 20 years on the Great Barrier Reef
Jenni is passionate about protecting the marine environment. She explains
“In my current role I have the great privilege of being the Caretaker of Low
Isles. Combining the underwater and above water images of Turtle bommie
and Low Isles, represents how interconnected the land and sea are, showing
that litter that starts on land always ends up in our oceans. To me not using
plastic is one of the most important ways we can all help protect our marine
wildlife, and preserve our environment for the future."

These unique reusable bags will be available for purchase next month in a
variety of Port Douglas shops.

Jenni is the lucky winner of a full day snorkeling trip thanks to the generous support of local business Poseidon Cruises.
