Waterfront bombs at Council meeting

The Port Douglas Waterfront project has been snubbed by Council at today's ordinary meeting. Instead, the 'Shields Street Heart' project, part of Cairns City Centre Masterplan will now be put forward for Regional Australia Development Funding.

Division 10 councillor Julia Leu was outvoted by all other Cairns-based councillors.

Cr Leu told The Newsport the Port Douglas Waterfront was the most appropriate project to attract Federal Government funding, but says the much-needed infrastructure project is not dead in the water.
