U12 Raiders no push over

The Port Douglas Under 12 Rugby Union team took on the competition leaders TAS JCU on Friday night in Cairns. Only able to field a team of 12 players through injuries and players away, and some players moving to new positions it was always going to be a tough night at the office.

TAS had a well stacked team of the league's biggest players and were able to force their way forward at will. The young Raiders made them work hard for the points but were no match for their size and speed.

Captain Josh Cranswick lead from the front and was well supported by his forwards, Leith Malone was tricky as ever around the rucks and delivered quick ball to the backs and had TAS going backwards until their big men arrived and halted play.

Port Putt Putt man of the match went to Georgia Kelly who ran and tackled her heart out all night. The Raiders showed grit all night, they kept their heads up as TAS piled on the points, and never gave in, they showed true character and did their Guernseys proud in the Raiders' spirit in what was a mismatch from the start.
