Awards keep coming for Port businesses

Peninsula Boutique Hotel has capped off a stellar year after being recognised as one of North Queensland’s best at the recent Tropical North Queensland Tourism Awards.

The 34 room property which fronts on to the Esplanade in Port Douglas, was honoured at the tourism awards in the category of Best Deluxe Accommodation.

It is the second time in 12 months that the hotel has been recognised for its product, receiving Gold Honours at the National Accommodation Industry Awards for Excellence in 2011.

Peninsula owners, Phil and Sheryn Blundstone, said the award was testament to the team they have working for them, and thanked them for their dedication and passion.

“It reflects on the service and the hospitality that we extend to our guests, which in a lot of cases can only be achieved in a smaller property like ours that offers true individualised service and attention to detail,” Ms Blundstone said.

“We want people to really enjoy their time with us in Port Douglas. It is the little things that go a long way."

Meanwhile, John Sullivan of Hortulus Landscapes was honoured with two industry awards at the Landscape Queensland Construction Excellence Awards 2012 in Brisbane on Saturday night.

Hortulus was named winner of the best ‘Residential 4 Category Award’ and winner of best ‘Design and Construct 2 Category Award’ for 2012.
