Get intimate with Karise

You might know Karise Eden as the winner of the very first series of the Australian version of The Voice from earlier this year.

Karise, 19, will be leaving her home on the NSW Central Coast to come to Port Douglas to perform at Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas' solar eve celebrations, hosted by TV personality Julia Morris, and take in the visual spectacular of the total solar eclipse the following morning.

We caught up with Karise and posed the same hard-hitting questions we confronted Julia with yesterday on The Newsport.

The Newsport: Have you ever seen a solar eclipse?

Karise Eden: I don't have any stand out memories but I do remember watching the red moon whilst on the phone to my mother a few years back, it was really special. I love anything to do with the moon and stars.

TN: The eclipse happens at 6.38am the day after the Sheraton Mirage event you’re involved in. Is there a chance you’ll sleep through it?

KE: No, I can't miss this one. As I said I have no stand out memories of watching a full eclipse so I'll be there keeping my eyes peeled, even if it is that early!

TN: What’s the most important event you’ve missed and why did you miss it?

KE: Well recently I missed my cousins wedding due to my new big schedule! But it all worked out, and they forgave me.

TN: Who will you be sharing the eclipse experience with and where will you be watching it from?

KE: Well I'll be staying up in Port Douglas for the eclipse so I will most probably be with the band, but will probably call my boyfriend whilst it's happening because I'll be in a different state.
I'll be missing him terribly!

TN: What can we expect at the Sheraton on ‘Solar Eve’?

KE: A really stripped back and intimate performance, it will just be myself and my wonderful keyboard player. I may play some songs on my guitar as well. I want people to be able to sit back, have a drink and chill out to my set.

TN: There is a marathon starting the moment the sun comes out from behind the moon. Will you be joining them?

KE: No way! I am a terrible runner, I was only ever good at 100 metre sprint.

TN: What are you plans after the eclipse has occurred?

KE: Head back home and gear up for Christmas, trying to figure out how I can visit the whole family in one day.

TN: What would be the song you’d love to listen to during the eclipse?

KE: Probably 'One Rainy Wish' by Jimi Hendrix.
