Have your say on Cape Trib Road

Submissions are being encouraged on a new Cape Tribulation Road Planning Study for the Cape Tribulation Road to Mulligan Highway link which provides coastal connection between Cairns and Cooktown.

Within this link, the Bloomfield Track section presents many operational complexities for its effective management.

As such, Cairns Regional Council, in conjunction with Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council and Cook Shire Council, has undertaken a Planning Study to discuss and develop the future road management plan for this link road.

Council has called for key stakeholders to lodge a submission concerning any environmental, social, cultural and/or economic impacts that the road management alternatives may have on the link.

The Cape Tribulation Road Link Planning Study and background studies can be downloaded Opens external link in new windowhere, or viewed at the following locations:

  • Cairns Regional Council’s offices at 119-145 Spence St, Cairns and 64-66 Front St, Mossman;
  • All libraries in the Cairns Regional Council area;
  • Cook Shire Council’s administration office, 10 Furneaux St, and the Cooktown library;
  • Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council’s administration office.

Public information sessions, open to all, will be held this month to provide an opportunity for people to ask questions about the various road management alternatives.

If you would like to attend one of these sessions email feedback@cairns.qld.gov.au by Friday 16 November.
