Under 12 Raiders match report

by Lurline Jenkins

The Under 12s Port Douglas Rugby Union team hosted Barron Red in the first home game of the season on the Friday night in Port Douglas.

Barron shocked the home team from the start scoring an early try from the kick off. That set the tone for the evening and with Barron being a much larger size they were able to control the game and were able to counter the young Raiders when they had the ball.

Captain Campbell Allen led from the front all night and the Port Putt Putt Man of the Match Josh Mealing was superb in defence tackling all night.

Although the score didn’t reflect the effort the whole team put in coaches Todd Malone and Darryl Kirk were pleased that they never gave in and fought to the end.

Kirk and Malone said the Raiders need to tighten up their defence and keep our structure so they can play to their game plan.
