Welham wins secret ballot

Gordon Welham has retained his position on the Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree board after a secret ballot from members at Tuesday night's Annual General Meeting.

37 people attended the AGM at Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas, many representing more than one business, with the majority of the organisation's 160 members choosing not to participate.

24 proxy votes were received in the race between Mr Welham and Sam Cullen for the Port Douglas representative position, however the final tally was not disclosed to members as per the TPDD constitution, meaning the winning margin remains a mystery.

Elected unopposed were Peter Martin (general director) and Greg Erwin (Mossman/Daintree).
