Sheraton head to Vegas

Elena Fragasso of Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas has hit Las Vegas to promote the resort, and of course, Port Douglas itself.

Ms Fragasso headed to the US city famous for its glam and gambling for the IMEX Exhibition, a three-day extravaganza for events and incentive travel.

"Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas was amongst the 20 partners joining Tourism Australia to showcase our beautiful Country's diversity , and unique experiences," Ms Fragasso said.

"Tropical North Queensland was the flavour! Strong interest from US buyers eager to know more about our region.  Congress business already confirmed in the major cities throughout Australia are enthusiastic and eager to extend their travel in the Far North.

"The US market is definitely bouncing back from the impact of the economic downturn."

General manager Sheraton Mirage, Lachlan Walker, said their attendance was part of broader efforts to promote the region.

"Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas and our owners are committed to driving further international business into the destination and this is just one of the many international shows we have attended this year, this being the second business USA sales trip Elena has attended; travelled in June earlier in the year," he said.

The show ran the largest hosted buyer program ever held in North America with over 2,000 buyers.

IMEX welcomed exhibitors from across the world including convention and visitor bureaus, national and regional tourist offices, major hotel groups, airlines, destination management companies, service providers, and trade associations.
