Hawes wins Monthly Medal

Following a few showers on Monday, the course was in great condition for Tuesday’s Port Douglas Golf Tours Monthly Medal.  The winner was John Hawes with a nett 67, second place Geoff Parmenter nett 69 and Mal Phillips nett 70.
 
Nearest the pins were Michael Gabour on 6, Laurie Prosser on 8, Graham Cook on 10, Simon Nelson on 13 and Wayne Soxsmith on 17.

The winner of Wednesday’s nine hole event was Geoff Goodwin with 21 points, ahead of Helen Gabour with 20 points. Nearest the pins were John Cameron on 6 and Lucy Giles on 8.

Thursday’s Ladies Lucy Giles Monthly Medal was won by Leonie Phillips with nett 72, second place went to Patti Graham with 75 and Glenda Christensen with 76. Glenda also won the putting competition on a count-back to Helen Gabour. Nearest the pins were Patti on 6, Christie Bouwkamp on 8,  Lucy Giles on 13.

The Friday Frolic was won by Geoff Goodwin with 25 points ahead of Ed Sant with 22.

Players endured some afternoon showers on Saturday, in the Brian “Boof” MacDonald Monthly Medal.  The event was won by Russell Watkins with nett 63 and runner-up Zac Hoare with nett 64.

Gross winners were:
A Grade - Charlie Kadic 81
B Grade - Ian Steley 86
C Grade - Broz Jurie 92

Nett winners were:
A Grade - Michael Walsh 73
B Grade - Kevin Robson 72
C Grade - Maurie Meth 71

Nearest the pins were Ralf Middel on 6, Sammy Brischetto on 8, Russell Watkins on 10, Jeff Bochow on 13 and Bruce Cheesman on 17.

The Ladies Port Douglas Combined Club Monthly Medal was won by Leonie Phillips with nett 69 on a count-back to Christie Bouwkamp.  Christie also won the putting competition. Nearest the pins were Bev Cowe on 6, Leonie on 10 and Glenda Christensen on 13.

A small field competed on Sunday, and John Reason took home the voucher with 39 points ahead of Shona Barbour with 33 points.  Nearest the pins were Art Howard on 13 & 17, and Shona Barbour on 10.

The Men’s Pennant Teams travelled to Cairns on Sunday to play matchplay against very strong players from Cairns and Paradise Palms.  Congratulations to Jeff Bochow who won his match.  Good luck to all players for next week.
