And then there were 2

The Hawks and Swans make it through to the big dance and it’s the result we wanted for a close finale! This could easily go either way and this is what I think will happen...

Grand Final - Saturday, MCG, 2.30pm

How do you tip this one? The Hawks came close to getting their wings clipped by the Crows in a game most thought they would have won a lot easier.

The Swans on the other hand never really looked in doubt against an ordinary Collingwood. Hawthorn is still favourites and might look slightly better on paper but Sydney just keep getting it done.

The ‘slide under the radar’ philosophy works great for Longmire yet the ‘angry little man’ persona is just as effective for Clarkson.

The Hawks have the superstars – Franklin, Hodge and Mitchell etc. yet the Swans only have Goodes. Was it only Goodes, however, that took care of Swan, Pendelbury, Beams and Thomas etc. on Friday?

No!

Might it come down to ‘a champion team will always beat a team of champions’ cliché? Probably not because the Hawks are also proven as a great team in their own right. Any injury concerns? Nope – nothing to draw on there either.

So there you have it folks, my tip for the GF – I have absolutely no idea!

I’m tipping that it will be as exciting as the recent draw (Pies and St Kilda 2010) and a single figure outcome. Perhaps another draw? Maybe the Hawks had it a bit harder in the Prelim and the
Swans had the extra day off.

I can’t find anything else that separates these two well-oiled machines. Swans by 2. Norm Smith (BOG) Josh Kennedy. Good lord I’m extremely excited!

This week's Winners
Jobe Watson (a well-deserved Brownlow)
Chelsea Roffey (first female to ever officiate a Grand final – goal umpire)
Kurt Tippet (will look wonderful in a Lions jumper)
Brenton Sanderson (I can’t remember a better debut effort than from the rookie Crows coach)

This week's Losers
Nathan Buckley (poor Bucks needed a flag or he was always gonna cop it and now his two match suspension of Dane Swan may have cost him the Brownlow)
Fevola (nice to watch a Brownlow medal without your antics)
