Men’s Bowls

A good turnout of first time and regular visitors added to the enjoyment of social bowls on Saturday. Dick Pitt and J Fary def. J Beasley and Doug Pitt 22-20, and S Chatterton and D Johnston def. D Head and D Patterson 22-18.

In other matches, R Vlug, G Marsh and P Gorsuch def. A Christie, G Hartley and P O’Neil 20-13, G Wilmot and C Wills def. J Hocking Jnr and Kiwi 30-21, and the big winners were T Pisot and J Bull who defeated R Edwards and E Smith 33-20.

Social bowls as usual next Saturday. Registrations by midday with a 1pm start.

Ladies Bowls

Another game of graded triples was played with Janice Brlyack, Jean Marsh and Greta Burke defeating Jan Gard, Joan Day and Glen Lepp 23 to 14. Janice’s team will now play Bev Zillfleisch, Sonia Edwards and Maria Mijo on Thursday 20 September for the trophy.

Social bowls resulted in a win for Robin Petrus and Judy Maxwell (+17) on a count back. Sylvia Patterson won the raffle.

Today is the Doreen Ponzo Memorial Day and also the ladies meeting is at 10.30am. Reminder that names are to be in by 12.30pm for a 1.30pm start. Selectors for September are Kaye Dean and Val Franzi.
