Food expo showcases region's best
A food expo organised by the Queensland Country Women’s Association (QCWA) is set to showcase locally grown produce in Port Douglas next month.
Division president of the QCWA Faye Hudson said it was a natural way to promote the region's high quality food products in this, the Year of the Farmer.
"We're leaving a fairly small carbon footprint, we're very conscious about that, and we've got such diversity, variety, and quality of food stuffs being produced," Ms Hudson said.
So far Ms Hudson has received a number of responses from honey, vanilla, wine, vegetable and herb producers, and even goat meat farmed in Mossman will add to the range of delicious produce.
"I can see this growing into an annual thing," she said.
Ms Hudson said there is still time for growers to get involved in this year's expo on Saturday 8 September at the QCWA building in Blake Street Port Douglas, and those interested can contact her on 4098 5770 or fayeehudson@bigpond.com.
