Council faces question time

Cairns Regional Council has announced a number of information sessions will be held throughout the region in a bid to shed some light on their role within the community.

“You don’t know what you don’t know” is the theme for the sessions where residents are being encouraged to ask questions face-to-face with Council representatives.

Topics can include everything from disaster preparation to Council services and facilities to public health.

While Mayor Bob Manning said the information sessions are particularly aimed that those who are new to the region, all are welcome.

“It is easy to get confused about who does what, with so many organisations offering various services. These sessions will help to differentiate what are Council services and how we can help.”

Five community information sessions will be held during the next three months, the first of which will be at Manunda on Thursday, with one to be held in Port Douglas at the Neighbourhood Centre on September 28 fom 2pm to 4pm.

“There is no such thing as a silly question – if you want to know something, we will do our best to provide an answer,” Cr Manning said.
