Court hears land clearing case

Three defendants have answered a complaint in Mossman Magistrates court made by Queensland Department of Fisheries over alleged illegal land clearing. 

The formal complaint defendants John Lawdan, Philip Wren, and Our Stuff Pty Ltd have been questioned over what is known as "Carrying out assessable development without a permit" under the Sustainable Development Act 2009.

Land clearing activity is allegedly occurred at Yule Point between 20 July 2010 and 25 July 2010, and witnesses have being called to assist in the hearing.

Proceedings commenced on Thursday and went into the night before continuing on Friday, and two further days have been set aside in November where the hearing will be held in the Cairns Magistrates Court.
