It has become a bit of a tradition to play an old boys game at the end of our final home game, and this year was no exception. 

We had a fair few players this year stepping up for the challenge. Even after a fair few sherbets they donned the jerseys and ran out in their thongs or kids shoes and socks and had a go. 

They took on the Under 15's and their playing staff and it was a fabulous 15 minute game, cut short due to the Seniors C Grade chomping at the bit to play. 

We thank everyone who took to the challenge with the fun it is intended and the crowd was crying with laughter at the display of natural old boy talent, well done fellas.

Sharks match reports

UNDER 9

The mighty Under 9s played a tough game of footy against Kangaroos this weekend, our last home game of the season.

To even up numbers a few boys from Kangaroos joined our team for the game. The boys worked well as a team, with Braxton and Matthew moving the ball wide allowing the team to display some great footy.

Unfortunately our tackling defence let us down letting Kangaroos run through the pack on quite a few occasions.

Mossman fought back with a try to Braxton Wienert and Alex (Kangaroos). Kane Gray was very unlucky on two occasions crossing the try line on both sides of the flied only to be tackled over the side line. Kangaroos were just too good on the day winning the game.

All the boys displayed some great footy at times, with Man of the Match going to Laquan Warrick, with special mention to Ethan, Kane, Braxton and Matthew.

UNDER 11

With one more round left in regular season the Under 11s cemented top spot on the ladder and guaranteed themselves a finals berth with a great 34-0 win against Redlynch. 

With better ball security the team are now scoring a lot of points and their defence, as it has been all year, rock solid led by man of the match performances by Payton Adams and Sean De Munk.

Both boys may not be real big but pushed themselves every week to play better for the team and are really playing with a lot of confidence as is the rest of the side. 

The boys next week have a chance to finish the regular season undefeated but the team’s main goal this season was to make the finals and are happy to have achieved that. 

Now focus moves to finals and they know steady improvement is needed to compete with rivals Brothers. 

Coach's mention to every member of the side whose attitude at training has improved dramatically and has their fitness, with great work put in by trainer Danny Buzza.

UNDER 12

Under 12 Mossman v Southern Suburbs at Mossman Showgrounds- These two teams are tied on top of the leader board as we go into finals.  It was a great game of footy with Suburbs starting strongly.

Mossman finished the second half stronger after a half time pep talk that inspired the boys to a 18 to 12 win.

Tries were scored by Austin Tayley, Ryley Jenkins, Zac Osborne and Campbell Alan with a conversion by Trazane Cobb.

UNDER 13

The Under 13s played against a fired up Brothers outfit on Saturday and didn't fair too well. Down 22 nil at halftime it was going to take a big effort from the young Sharks to get back in the hunt.

It was looking promising early in the half with the Sharks having the majority of the ball but a try against the run of play soon put a dampener on things. Mossman never gave up though and managed to grab two late tries.

The final score was 32-8. Man of the match was Tom Allen and the players' player award was split between Tom Allen and Wayne Oui.

UNDER 15

The Under 15 Mossman Sharks played a rare home game last Saturday against a desperate Edmonton Storm outfit who were playing to keep their place in top four.

The home team got off to a good start and were controlling the game comfortably. The forward pack were gaining good field position allowing the backline to move the ball around resulting in tries to Quinlyn, Jake Todd and Wynn Adams. However with ten minutes of the first half remaining the Sharks went to sleep and allowed the Storm to run in three easy tries and went into the break leading 24-18.

Edmonton were sitting in third on the ladder and a loss could have seen them drop out of the four and at halftime the game was there for the taking for either team.

Unfortunately Jake McCormack left the field early after the break with a fractured hand and with several Sharks' players severely flu affected The Storms desire to play in the semis became obvious as they ran away with game claiming a 52-30 victory.

Although it was another disappointing loss for the young Sharks the boys can hold their heads up for the commitment they have shown to each other all year and in the last home game of the year it great to see the hard working Wynn Adams cross for his first try.

Quinlyn Cannon scored four times with one of these tries coming off a short kick off where he regathered the ball, ran and stepped through the Storms' defence and crashed over next to the posts.
 
A special mention goes to Dicky Jackson and Jaggar Ablett who were both severely ill with the flu but still wanted to play for their team.

Man of the match went to Jaggar Ablett for his mighty effort.
