Mossman Golf Club hosted the Mossman Quicksilver Open and 160 players enjoyed the first round played on Saturday in picture postcard weather conditions, and Gennai Goodwin produced a Ladies Course Record of 68 off the stick.

Earlier in the week Tuesday’s field of 54 players competed in a Stableford event. Division I was won by D. McCutcheon with 45 points, with runner-up John Cameron with 38 points. 

Division II was won by Steve Warden with 43 points, with runner-up Q. Dick with 40 points, while nearest the pins went to Larry Smith on 6, Allan Harper on 10, Leon Baker on 13 and Peter Hornsby on 17.

The winner of Wednesday’s nine hole event was Peter Gray with 22 points, with runner-up N. Foard on a count-back to John Deuble and B. Smith. Nearest the pins went to R. Van Hardeveld on 10, Brett Deuble on 13 and John Deuble on 17.

Thursday’s Ladies event was won by Christie Bouwkamp with 39 points. In second place was Gayle Healey with 38 points and third taken out by Helen Gabour with 37. Nearest the pins were Christie on 6, Gayle on 8, H.Atkins on 10 and 17 and Narelle Johnson on 13.

The new special Friday Frolic was enjoyed by plenty of social players.  For players with handicaps, the competition was won by J. Williams with 21 points on a count-back to Dan Hober.
