Volunteers needed to clean the Cape

Volunteers and supporters of conservation group Tangaroa Blue will be heading back to Cape Kimberley this Saturday to give the location some TLC.

Tangaroa Blue's primary focus rests on the health of our oceans, and the upcoming clean-up is one of many they undertake on a regular basis.

Hundreds of kilograms of rubbish are removed from the areas they visit, ensuring debris such as plastics and old nets don't deliver agonising deaths to marine creatures.

Data collected from Tangaroa Blue clean ups such as the type and amount of rubbish removed is shared throughout the world in order to get a handle on the size of the problem, and ways to better manage the problem of marine debris.

Volunteers will meet at the beach access car park at 9am, and carpooling is available from Port Douglas and Cairns.

If you'd like to assist in Saturday's Cape Kimberley clean up or would like more information, contact Heidi Taylor on 0410 166 684 or email heidi@tangaroablue.org.
