Hocking memories at Mossman Bowls Club

Men’s Results

It was a tremendous turnout with sixty-four bowlers playing in the John Hocking Memorial social event on Saturday. “Hock” is fondly remembered and missed by all. The afternoon was great tribute to his memory.

In B Grade Singles on Sunday, Simon Jellis defeated Robert Ashford.

In addition to the usual social bowls next Saturday, Doubles competitions will continue with J Girgenti and G Wilmot to play N Tesch and C Andreassen, T Brlyack and C Wills will play P Cleary and R Edwards.

On Sunday the A grade Singles final will be played between B Wolland and D Blain while the B Grade semi-final will be played between C Dwyer and C Wills.

Ladies Results

On a miserable day the final of the Consistency was played. The game was very close and went down to the last bowl with Greta Kessler prevailing against a gallant Maria Mijo with scores being 154 to 146.

Graded pairs was also played with Janice Brlyack and Dot Kostyrka (26) defeating Bev Zillfleisch and Margaret Cooper (14). Jan Gard and Estelle O’Rourke (31) defeated Jean Marsh and Glenise Sharp (16).

Social bowls resulted in a win to Denise Highland, Carole Maxed and Glen Lepp.

Today is meeting day at 10.30am. Selectors for July are Carole Maxted and Jean Marsh. The luck raffle winner was Sylvia Patterson.
