Delays have occurred in the upgrade of the Daintree Village and Alexandra Range television transmission sites to the digital network.

It was anticipated that the Daintree Village site would be upgraded to digital by June 2012 and Alexandra Range by July 2012. However, approval of Cairns Regional Council’s licence to transmit a digital signal for these sites has been stalled, impacting the delivery date.

It is expected that the Daintree Village transmission site will be upgraded on August 17.

"This will involve one day of interrupted service while the new equipment is installed," a statement from Council read.

"Affected residents will need to have a digital set top box or digital-ready television to continue receiving the transmission after this date."

The Alexandra Range transmission site will be upgraded toward the end of 2012. The South Mossman site was upgraded to digital transmission in November 2011.
