After trailing by two strokes heading into the second and final round of the $20,000 Salsa Sea Temple Pro Am on Tuesday, Kurt Carlson has produced a four under par 67 to finish six under for the tournament and claim a one stroke victory.

Joint overnight leader Marcus Cain finished in outright second with three playing professionals tying for third at four under, including Daniel Morrison who shot a tournament low round of 66 to move up 12 places.

Carlson continues to improve as a professional and this win is again an indication of the talent he has as a golfing professional.

“This win really means a lot to me and to put together two solid rounds around this tough course is very satisfying," he said.

"The layout here at Sea Temple is outstanding and the win here will certainly boost my confidence heading into the difficult Paradise Palms Pro Am on Thursday.”

Carlson will collect around $3,500 for his efforts.

Queensland Tournament Director for PGA Australia, Justin Maker, said tournaments such as the Salsa Sea Temple Pro Am were an important part of promoting the region's courses to the rest of the world.

"One of my goals was to get a leg of the tour (Queensland Sunshine Tour) back up in Far North Queensland, and I think we've done part of that this year having played three events in Far North Queensland," Mr Maker said.

"It's alot to do with showcasing some of the courses you've got up here. You've got some of the best golf courses in the world available for people to come up here and play. I don't think a lot of people are aware of that."

He said the tournament was also instrumental in promoting the game in Far North Queensland.

"The Rod Pampling’s, the John Senden’s started out playing these events so it's also a pathway as such for those touring professionals."
