The local Under 11 Sharkies spent a great weekend at Townsville at the annual Laurie Spina Shield.  The team started as they have done all year - slowly on a wet and cold Day 1. 

They dropped two games, both by one try, and one of those was to Yeppoon Seagulls who went on to be in the grand final. The other was to Charters Towers Miners and the Sharkies finished the day two wins from four matches. 

After a great social night with family and friends, the Sharkies came out firing on Day 2 eating Mackay Magpies and Herbert River Crushers to finish the competition four wins from six matches to finish second in their pool, one game away from the quarter final spot. 

Coach Billy Adams would like to thanks the Under 11 parents with fundraising and outstanding side line support, and a special mention goes to Jenni, Tony Kadwell and Tess Walker who had organised the trip. A memorable weekend was had by all. 

The boys' attitude on and off the field did their families, themselves and the club proud.  Well done boys.
