Queensland Rail Bulls Masters Managing Director Jimmy Maher came to Sea Temple Resort in Port Douglas on Thursday (15th March) morning to meet up with Sea Temple General Manager Kelvin Dodt to confirm that the Masters will be playing their 20/20 match against a select Cairns Far North Cricket XI for the second year running on Saturday May 19th, which is the first weekend of Carnival.

Sea Temple GM Kevin Dodt said, "After last years great success I am delighted to be able to confirm our sponsorship of the event and I and my staff are looking forward to welcoming all the Masters superstars for the week"

Legendary ex Queensland State Captain and Australian international Jimmy Maher said, " I'm excited about some of the new names that have confirmed for the match.  I'll get the full team confirmed within a couple of weeks but I'm especially looking forward to seeing ex England superstar Graeme Hick at his very best on the day.  With 136 first class centuries during his career and over 40,000 runs scored, I'm sure we'll get something special from him on the day"

Wendell Sailor is once again making the trip and he is apparently determined to make his mark on the batting side this year having missed out to what he still considered to be a doubtful umpiring decision!  Only time will tell if the big man will get his revenge or have to rely on AB to turn the game with his bowling again.

Jimmy Maher told The Newsport "I'm proud of the fact that over the 2 years and 8 games that the Masters have played around regional Queensland, we have raised more than $200,000 for our selected charities.  I know some of the boys particularly like playing in  regional Queensland because that is where many of them started.  Matthew Haydn is a Kingaroy boy and Martin Love is from Mundalla, so they will be doing their best to get here for the big day".

This year many of the legends will be visiting our regional schools and holding a few coaching clinics during their week long stay but most of all, according to Jimmy, they are looking forward to playing the game in one of the most picturesque cricket grounds in the state. 

He summed it up, "Why wouldn't you want to come and play cricket here?  The crowds are fantastic, the ground is magnificent and the scenery is the best in the world and the Sea Temple's not a bad place to stay eh?".
