Having won another toss and choosing to bat, the Muddies were off to a bad start against Rovers Green on Sunday in Cairns when Darlington, who has amassed most of the team's runs this season, was bowled trying to drive through the on side for a duck.

Opener Doble was joined by Miglioranza, the next most prolific scorer and after surviving a run out chance the two put on 14 before Miglioranza (6) was also bowled rewarding the line and length of Rovers’ disciplined attack taking the score to 2 for 14 in the fourth over.

Andrews top scored in the last game but looked like he left his feet at that game, swinging to find edges before oddly slicing off the back of the bat to allow the keeper to catch him on the second attempt for 10 (which ended up being the second top score).

Doble continued with discipline until he almost fell over a slower in-swinging yorker, bowled for 17 leaving his team at 4 for 47.

In the previous game it was the middle order that recovered the team’s total from 3 for 21 to 150 plus, however skied catches and an unlucky LBW for Muller saw the Muddies collapse from 4 for 47, losing 6 wickets for an embarrassing 8 runs to be all out for 55.

The team knew they had to do everything possible to get back in the match, but when Rovers’ batsman Moore was dropped in the outfield on 13 the boys had to watch as he went on to 45 not out and win the match for his team in just the thirteenth over.

The Muddies will look to re-group this week, but inclement weather and the Australia Day Holiday means they will have to work on the mental state of their game more so than physical training.

On the other hand, losing 6 for 8 would suggest the game was as much lost via a poor mental state anyway!
