Dozens ham it up for Mossman Bowls

Men’s Results
 
The Waugh and Dwyer – Autopro Ham Day was a huge success and the Club wishes to thank and congratulate the sponsors on hosting such a brilliant afternoon.

A combination of 58 new bowlers and old pros came together for a sociable afternoon of friendly competition. It was great to see so many younger players giving bowls a go. Judging from the smiles and laughter around the rinks everyone really enjoyed the event.
 
The results for the day were:

K Pitt, A Cooper and D Pitt def B McCarthy, G Wilmot and N Tesch 15-14.
S Renton, A Christie and D Beaumont def D McCormack, S Chatterton and T Pitt 16-14.
D Murday, J Lancaster, P Young and D Egan def B Eagle, W Norris, B Jack and C Dwyer 16-12.
B Butler, B Anison, C Andreason and C Maxted def by B Allison, J Hillsy, G Marsh and D Blain 22-15.
D Cavanagh, Hock Jnr, P Janssen and J Hocking def B Duncan, I Steeley, S Parkes and R Parkes 21-16.
D Pitt, R Pitt and T Brylack def T Melchert, E Pitt and R Ashford 17-10.

The second prize turkeys went to M Watson, T Pisot and C Wills who defeated Morris, T Brack and B Wolland 23-15.

The victors of the day, A Valentine, L Valentine and P Cleary won the hams against I May, M Radlof and J Girgenti 35-6.
 
This weekend will be a repeat of the fun and action with the Bunn and Balshaw Ham day on Saturday. The games will start at 1:30pm and names must be in by 12:30.

Once again, new bowlers and first timers are welcome and mufti dress is optional.

Ladies Results
 
18 ladies competed on Patron’s Day. Greta Kessler won the Spider while she Greta Kessler, Estelle O’Rourke and Carole Maxted took out the Encouragement.


Jan Gard, Maria Mijo and Glen Lepp took third, while Zina Girgenti, Sonia Edwards and Val Franzi finished second. The winners on the day were Joan Day, Barbara May and Val Robinson.

The lucky raffle winner was Joan Day. Meeting day is Thursday 8 December at 10.30am followed by bowls and the presentation of prizes.

The new Ladies committee for 2012 has been decided; President - Robin Petrus, Vice President - Joan Day, Secretary - Barbara May, Games Director - Val Robinson, Patron - Maria Mijo, Selectors – Kaye Dean, Jan Gard, Greta Kessler and Carole Maxted, and Press Officer – Kaye Dean.
