Jets pipped by Dolphins in GF

The Douglas Jets have travelled to Smithfield each Monday since August to play in the YMCA Smithfield Competition to further their development in netball.

The team, who has an average age of 15 years, competed in Division 2 which is predominantly made up of adult teams and were only beaten once throughout the season.

They headed South last Monday night to compete in the Grand Final against the Dolphins.

The Jets played very sharp and fast paced netball for three quarters, holding the lead in each quarter.

The final quarter was the test and the girls held firm for the first eight minutes, but the experience and maturity of the Dolphins team eventually overcame the great effort put in by the Jets.

The final score was Dolphins 28 to Jets 17.

Coach Sharon Beechey was pleased with her team’s effort over the season, they were very competitive and learned some valuable netball skills playing in the strong YMCA competition.

Douglas Junior Netball will hold its sign on at the Mossman Indoor Sports Complex on 14 February, 2012 at 4pm so put that date in your calendar. All are welcome.
