Best Photo winners announced!
It was a case of the quick and the dead in The Newsport's Best Photo Competition for October.
Brooke White's 'Dinner time at Undara' was chosen as the best shot of the month by Catseye Productions' Ali George, Image Bank Australia's Perrin Clarke, and The Newsport editor, Mathew Churchill.
The split second timing of the shot worked out beautifully for Brooke, and the snake (but not so well for the bat), and has earned Brooke a $100 Garrick's Camera House voucher PLUS $50 cash.
Second place went to Susanne Stannard for her 'Cape York sunset' which was not only popular with the judges, but with readers as well. Susanne will have the image immortalised by Image Bank Australia on a stretched canvas valued at $75.
Susanne has delivered some spectacular photos over the last few months and her wall at home will be looking most impressive after also taking out second place in September.
Third prize went to Andrea Moore's 'It's a dog's life' capturing a fun moment amongst friends. The clarity and timing of the shot helped Andrea sneak into third with Steve Cruickshank very stiff to miss out with his historic photo entitled 'Mossman Royal Hotel ablaze'. Andrea will collect a lovely bottle of plonk for her efforts.
The Most Popular Photo was chosen by you, the readers, who commented on the Best Photo Competition page about your favourite pic of the month.
Cathy Ford's 'Archer`s Point south Cooktown N.Q.' received some great feedback which has resulted in Cathy and a friend heading to AME to take on the thrilling Jungle Ball.
We would like to thank all of our photographers for taking the time to capture these amazing shots, and sending them in as entries to the Best Photo Competition. Every month our readers from all over the world get the chance to "stroll" through the fantastic gallery depicting our region.
We'd also like to take the time to thank Garricks Camera House, Image Bank Australia, Port Douglas Heritage Wines, AME Jungle Ball, and Perrin and Ali for their contributions and support of the competition.
November is shaping up to be another stellar month with some standout shots already capturing the eyes of our judges.
Keep your photos coming and good luck!
