Plays showcase local talent
The Tropical North Theatre Company and The Clink Theatre are presenting ‘A Short Play Showcase;’ two original plays performed back to back on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 October.
The actors, who are all members of The Tropical North Theatre Company, have been working hard in the Clink Theatre all year to produce these two plays which were personally written by the theatre company’s directors - Laura Muranty and Nicole Carnaby.
The first play for the night will be ‘After the Party,’ written by Laura Muranty, and follows the lives of seven teenagers over one night.
In the complex world of social networking, underage drinking and peer pressure, their lives are changed forever. The young actors performing this play offer the audience an insightful glimpse into the social issues that affect teenagers all around the world.
The second play in the Showcase is ‘Avoiding the Void,’ written by Nicole Carnaby. This play takes the audience on a comical journey of the modern woman and her quest for self-fulfillment and happiness.
The women performing this play each portray a unique and at times hilarious character on the stage.
Tickets to A Short Play Showcase (which include both plays) are $20 for adults and $16 for concession holders, students and members, and can be bought from Origin Café in Port Douglas or Goodies Café in Mossman.
Tickets can also be purchased online at TryBooking. For any inquiries please call on 0408 399 909.
