No sweat for GBR Marathon crew
Want to run the Great Barrier Reef Marathon without raising a sweat?
Volunteers are needed to help run the event on Saturday, November 12, where runners from around the world will be competing in a course that encompasses Port Douglas.
All you need to do is commit to a 5.30am start with a 10am knock-off. Jobs include manning water stations, road marshals, fruit choppers and general helpers to the event organisers.
"Volunteers are the backbone of all great events, and we want to showcase Port Douglas as the friendly and vibrant place we know it to be so athletes and their families either stay on after the event, or come back for a holiday," said event organiser, Bruno Bennett of Port Douglas Event Management.
"That's why we're gathering a team of enthusiastic volunteers who can make the athletes feel welcome."
If you're interested in volunteering a few hours of your time, all you need to do is contact Joni at Port Douglas Event Managment on 0401 343 596 or email joni@pdem.com.au and register your name.
