L.J.Hooker eyes GBR Marathon title
The latest from the L.J. Hooker team
The Port Douglas office of L.J.Hooker have, in our opinion, put together a race winning combination for this year's Great Barrier Reef Marathon corporate teams challenge.
Whilst our inspirational team leader, Kylie Samson, has been on a strict training regime, which incidentally saw her pass her personal training diploma, her husband Mick has confirmed that his dedicated combination of evening walks and red wine will guarantee a depth of stamina unsurpassed by any other team member.
The team is actually playing down rumours that we have been training for weeks, luring other teams into a false sense of security, to ensure victory of the coveted inaugural title.
“We are stoked to be in this inaugural Great Barrier Reef Marathon’s Team Challenge," Mick said. "We believe we can take on any local businesses team and win. With our mascot, Hooker the Bear, making the pace on the day our time will be unbeatable.”

The latest from Race Ambassador - Steve Moneghetti
Race Ambassador Steve Moneghetti is chomping at the bit to take his place on the starting line.
“I can’t wait to get some sun on my back. It’s been down to 9 degrees in my home town of Ballarat. That makes preparations for the expected 30 degree temperatures on race day difficult but it will be good to get a proper sweat up.”
The latest from event organisers - Port Douglas Event Management
PDEM Business Development Manager, Bruno Bennett said that registrations are coming in thick and fast.
"We now with more flooding in have over 200 registrations every day.
“We are now seeing a great diversity in the entries we are receiving. The serious competitors for the Ultra- Marathon have been confirmed for sometime now but it is the recent support from corporate groups, from Port Douglas, Cairns and surrounding areas that is really getting into gear.
"There is some fierce competition rearing its head between many of the local businesses so it will be great to see them go head to head on the day.”
Corporate team challenge entries are available in both the Steve Moneghetti Open Invitational Half Marathon and the GBR 10km events with a total prize value of over $5000.
Both individual runners and businesses have the opportunity to raise money for charity by entering in the Fundy 5000. And by donning the corporate polo, funds will be raised for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
