Funding boosts kindy programs
More government funding will help long day care services deliver kindergarten programs according to State Member for Cook, Jason O'Brien.
Mr O'Brien announced a record number of services had been approved under a third round of funding, while also confirming changes to the funding program to streamline the application process for services.
“This third round attracted strong interest from the long day care sector, with an extra 429 services approved under this round,” Mr O'Brien said.
“This demonstrates the importance of government funding for the long day care sector because it supports services to deliver a quality kindergarten program delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher.
“Importantly, services can now apply for funding at any time."
Village Kids Children's Centre on Cooya Beach Road was one of the successful organisations.
Mr O'Brien said funding long day care services to deliver a kindergarten program gave families more options and greater access to quality early education programs for their children.
“With these extra services, we’ve created more than 21,500 funded kindergarten places for Queensland children.”
