Scramble decided on count back

The Holden Scramble took centre stage on Sunday for the first time in over a decade with 64 players contesting the honour of progressing to the regional finals in Townsville next month.

Just one-and-a-half shots separated the top six teams. Shane Heath, Bill Heath, Lyn Heimann and Gennai Goodwin edged out Jeff Bochow, Adam Ferguson, Joe Wild and Elijah Boon with after a count back for nett 55 7/8.

Charlie Kadic won nearest the pin on 6, Shirley Carney won 8, Elijah Boon on 10, Kerri Williams on 13 and Lucy Giles on 17. Ralf Middel and Pris Freeman won the longest drives on 11.

Earlier last week Simon Nelson won the Tuesday competition with 40 points after a count back to Ken Deuble. Lloyd Redpath won nearest the pin on 8, Brett Jurie on 10, Ian Steley on 13 and Rob Cooke on 17.

John Cameron won the Wednesday Sporters competition with 23 points ahead of Shona Barbour on 22 points. Shona also won nearest the pin on 6 and Ray Bennets won 8.

The Thursday ladies played a stableford competition which was won by Gayle Healey with 40 points ahead of Maxine Leigh on 39. Helen Gabour won nearest the pin on 6, Patti Graham on 8, Ellen Clark on 10 and Glenda Christensen on 13.

Dave Addison was in blistering form on Saturday winning the par competition with +10 ahead of Brian O’Connor on +5. Nearest the pins went to Art Howard on 6, John Mitchell on 8, Des Landy on 10, Brian O’Connor on 13 and Dave Nesbitt on 17.

In the ladies par event Trish Landy won with +4 ahead of Shona Barbour on +3. Patti Graham won nearest the pin on 6, Bev Cowe on 8, Glenda Christensen on 13 and Shona Barbour on 17.
