A large field of golfers turned out over the weekend for the annual 36 holes CUB classic.

Dave Addison continues to improve and took out top honours for the men winning the overall nett with 137 for the two days. Shane Heath won the men’s overall gross with 152 ahead of Peter Chrisfield on 156. Dennis Blake won the A Grade nett with 146 ahead of Ralf Middel on 148.

In B Grade Jock O’Kane won the gross with 165 edging out Ian Steley by a shot on 166. Bill Heath won the B Grade nett with 140 ahead of Bernie Boon on 146.

Peter Dowel won C Grade gross with 179 ahead of Kevin Baker on 183. Tano Caltabiano won the C Grade nett with 140 ahead of Ken Eagle on 144.

In the ladies Sue Johnson played brilliantly to win the overall nett with 128, thirteen shots clear of her nearest rival. Gennai Goodwin again dominated the ladies overall gross with 150 which was also the best gross score over the weekend two shots ahead of men’s winner Shane Heath.

Bev Cowe finished runner up to Gennai with 177. Glenda Christensen won the Division One nett with 141 and Kerri Williams was second with 150.

In Division two Patti Graham won the gross with 191 ahead of Julie Hooker on 195. Judy McCormack won the nett with 148 one shot clear of Ellen Clark on 149.

Earlier last week Peter Lewis found his measure with a brilliant nett 64 to win division one in the Tuesday men’s stroke competition ahead of Peter Hornsby on 68. John Caswell was equally impressive also shooting a nett 64 to win division two by a shot to Steve Warden on nett 65.

Jock O’Kane won nearest the pin on 6, Brian MacDonald on 8, Peter Dowel on 10, Maurice Meth on 13 and P Moore on 17.

On Wednesday Peter Titus-Rees won the nine hole sporter’s competition with 22 points after a count back to Sue Johnston. Neil Ustick was third with 20 points after a count back. Nearest the pins were Lucy Giles on 10, Sue Johnston on 13 and Ray Bennets on 17.

Maxine Leigh took out the Thursday ladies Stableford competition with 43 points ahead of Lorraine Skinner on 41 points. Alison Diamond was third with 38 points. Maxine also won nearest the pin on 6, Sue Johnston on 8, Lucy Giles on 10, Judy Onto on 13 and Bev Cowe on 17.
