Mixed fortunes for junior Crocs
by Kylie Cox
Sunday saw the Under 8s Crocs play a double header at Fretwell Park. In the first game the Crocs, buoyed by an increase in player numbers, took on Central’s Red.
In a fairly even affair the Crocs matched Centrals in every department. The feature of this game was the way in which the Crocs shared the ball around with accurate kicking and good handballs to well positioned players.
Once again teamwork was the key to producing the Crocs' goals. Goalkickers: Scott Cooper 2 and Dean Laurence 2.
Unfortunately the Crocs could not reproduce the same good teamwork in the second game against a very polished Pyramid Power team.
The Power was right on its game from the first bounce and took advantage of its chances as it dominated possession all over the field.
Geneva Gilbert was the Crocs sole goalkicker after some good lead up work. Jae Mitchell was awarded the Foodworks voucher while Geneva Gilbert and Dean Laurence took out the weekly Macdonalds awards.
This weekend sees the last games for 2011 played at Cazaly's Stadium. At the completion of the games, the presentation of awards to each of the players of the respective teams will follow.
Well done to the everyone involved in the 2011 season, and we look forward to seeing more action in 2012.
