Skinner a winner in Mossman golf

Golfers were again out in force last week ahead of the CUB classic this weekend.

Peter Lewis showed plenty of promise scoring 46 points last Tuesday to win by six shots to Michael Gabour. Mike Burke was third with 39 points.


Nearest the pins were won by Jock O’Kane on 6 and 10, Ralf Middel on 8, Simon Nelson on 13 and Wayne Dowell on 17.

Bob Hoskin won the Wednesday 9 Hole competition with 23 points around the front nine. Maurice Meth finished second with 22 points after a count back to Jack Boyd.

Greg Walker won nearest the pin on 6 and Bill Allison on 8.

The Thursday ladies played a Par event last week and Lorraine Skinner found herself in the winner’s circle with +5 after a count back to Allison Richardson.

Yvonne Johnstone won nearest the pin on 6, Glenda Christensen on 8, Shona Barbour on 13 and Helen Gabour on 17.

Glenda Christensen was the best of the Ladies on Saturday winning with 37 points ahead of Bette Wells on 36.

Helen Burke won nearest the pin on 8, S Adams on 10 and Patti Graham on 13.

In the men’s Saturday competition F. Wilmann took out division one with 38 points ahead of Matty Gray after a count back. B Tyrrell won division two with 40 points ahead of G Scott on 38 points.

Nearest the pins went to John Ziegler on 6, Norm Lockwood on 8, A Woffe on 10, Brett Jurie on 13 and Matty Gray on 17.

On Sunday Art Howard took top honours with 39 points ahead of Lucy Giles and Julie Hooker on 38. Art also claimed nearest the pin on 6, John Cameron on 13 and Shona Barbour on 17.
