Golfers soaking up the sun at Mossman

It was another busy week at Mossman Golf Club with plenty of golfers soaking up the sunshine and good weather.
On Tuesday, Lloyd Redpath won the men’s competition with 41 points, ahead of P Waddington and Bill Allison on 40 points.
Nearest the pins were Graham Muter on 6, Neil Fitzgerald on 8, Art Howard on 13 and Bill Allison on 17.
Bob Laybutt played well on Wednesday to win the 9-hole sporters competition with 23 points. Ray Bennetts finished second with 22 points after a count back to Tano Caltabiano. Ben Eagle won nearest the pin on 13 and Lucy Giles won 17.
A count-back separated first and second place on Thursday with Leonnie Phillips finishing stronger to edge out Jane Chidgey for 38 points to win the ladies Stableford competition. Judy Onto finished third with 36 points. Leonnie also won nearest the pin on 6, Trish Landy won 8, Kerri Williams won 10 and Patti Graham won 13.
Fifty-six men took to the course on Saturday, but the day belonged to James Doolah who scored 49 points to win Division Two by seven shots ahead of Neville Keen on 42.
Russell Jeffrey won Division One with 38 points ahead of John Deuble on 37 points. Doolah also won nearest the pin on 6, Robert “Plug” Young on 8, Bill Heath on 10, Peter Hornsby on 13 and Dennis Blake on 17.
Kym Edwards won the ladies Saturday competition with 35 points after a count-back to Helen Burke. Jenny Rowell won nearest the pin on 8 and Shona Barbour finished with 13.
