Tiger Airways remains grounded more than five weeks after the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) suspended its domestic services for unsafe practices.

CASA remains unmoved by Tiger's efforts to prove themselves fit to fly, claiming that the airline's response to its formal set of conditions is unsatisfactory.

According to CASA spokesperson, Peter Gibson, the bulk of Tiger's documentation is fine, but they have asked the airline to revise some aspects of its submission.

A date for the return of Tiger's domestic operations is still unclear despite initial hopes it would return to the air by the start of August, however it could resume as soon as this week with a court hearing set for 11 August.

In what may be another blow to tourism in the far north, it has been reported that Tiger may return with limited service with one travel website writing that the carrier has removed Alice Springs, Darwin, Canberra, Cairns, Hobart, Mackay, Melbourne (Avalon), Rockhampton and Sunshine Coast from the drop down booking menus on its site.
