Free grant writing workshop

Anyone with an idea for a creative project is invited to attend a free grant-writing workshop to learn what it takes to secure a share of Cairns Regional Council’s Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grant pool.

RADF is available to individuals or groups for arts, culture or heritage projects and is provided by the Cairns Regional Council in partnership with Arts Queensland.

In the lead up to the next RADF round, which closes on Friday, August 26, for projects commencing after December 1, Cairns Regional Council is offering prospective applicants the opportunity to learn how to write a successful grant application.

Free sessions will be held at the Port Douglas Community Centre tomorrow, August 6, from 1pm to 4pm and at Barlow Park Sporting Complex Meeting Room on Sunday, August 7, from 10am to 1pm.

The presenter, Carrie Bies of Savvy Arts, has raised millions of dollars for government and community projects during a 30-year career.

The sessions will outline how to plan a project, organise proposals, answer questions on the application forms, what support material to include, and practical tips on budgets. Each attendee will receive information that can be taken away from the workshop.

RADF grants can be used to support a range of arts, culture or heritage activities, such as workshops to develop skills or build community capacity, supporting collections or stories, or developing creative enterprise or cultural tourism initiatives.

Places in the free grant workshops are limited and participants should register in advance by contacting Council’s RADF Liaison Officer on 4032 6651 or emailing l.buckley@cairns.qld.gov.au.
