The sports wrap with Nicky G

Another week of footy sees another record winning margin which causes the demise of another coach.

Dean Bailey of the Dees payed the ultimate price due to a lack lustre performance by his men on Saturday and will now never know if his five year plan would ever have worked!

However, how good are Geelong at Skilled stadium? They haven't lost there in over 24 games and seem to have a 10 goal home ground advantage.

Round 24 features a last round showdown between Collingwood and Geelong but it will be at the MCG (Collingwood very rarely have to travel) so this record could continue for a few more years yet!

Gold Coast have the arduous task of taking on the Cats in Geelong this week and though I doubt Guy McKenna will be sacked after the game, I do predict a very long day in the office for Gary Ablett's men! Geelong by 250 points!

That would be a record that will live forever - two 150 + point hammerings in succession. We'll see...

Not reet minutes after Bailey's sacking Mick Malthouses' name was instantly thrown in the ring as a possible replacement. This guy will be able to name his price next season if he does leave the Pies.

It will be a strange predicament if the Poes win the flag and the dual premiership coach has to step aside.

My policy would be this - he doesn't step down until he loses one! If Malthouse can string three or four together (which is possible with this list) then Nathan Buckley can wait!

If Bucks doesn't like this he can move on but why should he enjoy the spoils of Malthouse's hard work? Bucks will also need to deliver the holy grail in his rookie years as coach or this whole 'apprenticeship' will look like a joke.

I love it - the Pies are at the top of the food chain and they are gonna mess it all up on their own!

This week's winners

Richmond and Brisbane; God bless the bye.
Storm; Great comeback and look keen to put last year behind them.
West Coast; continue to impress
Hawthorn; at full strength could beat Collingwood!
Yao Ming; retired after his 7 foot 6 inch frame succumbed to injury. Great career and story for China.
Mark Bickley; 1 from 1!

This week's losers

Melbourne Dees; embarassing!
Freo; wheels falling off?
Port Adelaide; when the coach says your not AFL standard there's trouble afoot!
Parramatta; took the knee off the neck against the Storm Monday night!

Next week we'll take a look at how the Cairns Taipans are fairing in the off season and if they are on track to go one better next season.
