Smith BOG in Crocs demolition

The game commenced in cool, blustery conditions but the Crocs leapt into the fray with the first goal in thirty seconds, and four goals in eight minutes.

Scotty Roberts was in everything early and the pace of the game was a cracker.  Brennan "lovely legs" Beale picked up from where he left off last game, playing really well.

Luke "Doggy" Bloom was defending superbly, repelling attack after attack.  Full forward Matt Shaw soared into the air at least an hour too early - somehow hovered, and took the hanger of the century!  His resultant shot at goal hit the post but deserved better.

The Crocs intensity of play resulted in a quarter time score of five to one.

South Cairns, now kicking with the aid of the breeze, opened the scoring in the second quarter but there was a great immediate reply from Daniel Harris.

Nippy, tenacious wingman Daniel Smith decided to make the mid-field his personal domain and dominated with numerous hard-ball gets.

The game's intensity persisted with South Cairns refusing to give in.  It was an enthralling tussle, kick for kick, end to end.  Bloomy and Scott Roberts were now well on top of their opponents as "T.K" Colin Karpany kicked his second goal.

It was a great effort by the Crocs against the wind kicking nine goals to two for the quarter.

T.K. opened the second half proceedings in scintillating style - evasive, elusive, delivering pin-point accurate short passes.  The Crocs' overall team work was excellent as the game had become a grind, but the Crocs superior speed and fitness was telling in the all-important third quarter.

The bombardment of goals slowed a little but the Crocs refused to let South Cairns get many scoring opportunities of their own.  Daniel Smith racked up yet another BOG performance and T.K. finished the game in brilliant form.

It was another overwhelming victory for the Crocs and what was especially pleasing going into the finals was that it was a first class team effort.

Meanwhile, a new look Reserves team took to the field this week with coach Darren Wall having effected many changes.

In his post-match comments Darren said, "a most pleasing aspect of the season has been that different players have featured amongst the best each week, reflecting real team depth".

Next week the Crocs travel to North Cairns for what should be another great game.
