After the Queensland Firebirds took out the ANZ Championships on the weekend for our state, the Douglas Netball girls were fired up for a good night of netball.

Cougars def Crocs    38-13

Cougars didn't bring out their best game this week but played good enough to beat the 6 sided Crocs. Crocs defence were the stars of the game collecting a large percentage of rebounds, having a high tally of deflections and a good effort of intercepts. Cougars shooter Michelle Pitt kept her team high on the scoreboard and was awarded the best and fairest player along with Crocs shooter Emma Lovell.

U/14 Rep Team def Breakers    13-8

Last week saw the U/14 Rep Team lose their first game, however this week they came back fighting. It was a tight game and only a small number of balls made it through the hoop but the rep team proved they have been training hard. Breakers shooter Karina Pellegrinet was awarded the best and fairest player along with the Rep Teams Molly Delany.

Rattle N Hum def Julatten Jewels    28-22

This game between two of the strongest teams was a nail biter of a match that could have gone either way. The Jewels started of slow but by the end of the third quarter managed to be only two goals behind Rattle. They fought hard in the fourth quarter and managed to level the score before Rattle stole the show to win by six goals. Julatten Jewels players Erin Jeffery and Taylor Stievano were awarded best and fairest players.

Jets def Bad Habitats    31-8

It was a game that measured skill and speed and the Jets had what it took to beat Bad Habitats by a large margin. Bad Habitats goal keeper, Sam Smallbone was awarded the best and fairest but it wasn't enough to stop the goals coming from the young Jets shooters.

Young Guns def Pink Panthers    28-22

Pink Panthers started of slowly, falling behind five goals to the Young Guns. Every quarter after however, they were able to stay tied on goals per quarter but unfortunately could not make up for their first quarter disappointment.  Best and fairest was awarded to Rachel Ramsay from the Guns in shooting and Chaz Clark from the Panthers in defence. The game was finished with two panthers players falling victim to serious ankle injuries.
