Under 8s
Last Sunday the Under 8s travelled to Watson’s Park to take on the Cairns Hawks Brown team. The Croc’s set a blistering pace for the first two quarters winning plenty of the ball all over the ground. Accurate delivery to the forwards from the centre resulted in goals to the Crocs and the defence held strong stopping many scoring opportunities from the Hawks.

The second half saw the Hawks 'claw' there way back into the match with the Croc’s losing some of their early momentum.

At the final siren the under 8s had managed 7 majors and once again they should all be proud of what was a great effort.

Thanks to Warwick Bourguignon who filled in as coach for the day he was pleased with the team and reminded the players to share the ball around.  Goal kickers were Dean Laurence 2, Harry Walker 2, Jesse Bourguignon, Cameron Nyko and Scott Cooper 1 goal each. 

Player of the Day Award was awarded to Geneva Gilbert and the Macca’s Awards went to Scott Cooper and Dean Laurence. Thanks go to Rory Nyko for a great job goal umpiring.

Under 10s
Like a feeding frenzy at Australia Zoo the Port Douglas Crocs went on a goal feast against Pyramid Power on Sunday with great team work.  Seven of the boys kicked goals during the match. The boys were hungry from the first bounce going in hard for the ball and had Power in the death roll early in the match scoring 16 goals.

Their team play and sharing of the ball amongst each other was a highlight in what was one of their best games this season. Goal kickers Daniel Davidson 5, Anthony Long 3, Reuben Allison 2, Toby Ellison 2, Ryan Bourguignon 2, Jack Harrington 1 and Dylan Collyer 1.

Awards went to Anthony Long Club medal, Dylan Collyer, Jacob Rich and Ryan
Bourguignon also featured amongst the awards this week.

Under 14s
Pyramid Power 8-8-44 def. Port Douglas 5-3-34.  Port Douglas Crocs travelled to Watson’s Oval on Sunday to take on Pyramid Power. As has become a regular occurrence this season, the Crocs were again hampered by a shortage of players. The assistance provided by a number of Under-12 players who travelled to Cairns especially to play for the Under-14s was very much appreciated.

Despite the match being deemed a forfeit by Port Douglas and with the help of a few Pyramid Power players the boys managed to play a match even though it was not for points. Port Douglas produced an impressive first quarter and led by 3 goals at the first break. Kicking into a stiff breeze in the second quarter, the Crocs were unable to capitalise on a number of goal-scoring opportunities. Pyramid Power eventually reined in the Crocs in the 3rd quarter and went on to win the match despite a late push by the Crocs.

The final siren saw the deficit reduced to 10 points. Goal kickers for the match were Giles Hanley, Dylan Smedley, Mitchell Bohm and Ethan McCullough. Giles Hanley received The Beach Shack award with the E.J.’s Takeaway voucher presented to Ethan McCullough.

Other award recipients were Mitchell Bohm and Dylan Smedley who each received McDonald’s meal vouchers for their efforts. All players are requested to contact the Coach or Team Manager if they do not plan to play on match day or they do not have transport so alternative arrangements can be made. Under 16s
Centrals 11-5-71 def Port Douglas 3-6-24 Once again the Under 16s failed to deliver a four quarter performance resulting in another loss. They never really looked in the contest being out scored in every quarter by a much more determined and hungry Central’s line up.

The croc’s have the talent but seems that a lack of drive and hunger to be the first to the ball and to chase down an opponent has them being out played week after week. With the Crocs only scoring 3 goals for the match there is not a real lot I can spruik about this week.

This Friday Night they come up against top team Cairns Hawks who have only had one loss for the season, despite what the ladder says the Croc’s are more than capable of knocking the top teams from off their pedestal.

I know it is Carnivale this week-end but lets’ keep our minds on the job and see a Parade of Crocs goals on Friday Night. Goal Kickers on Friday Night were Jack Goodall 2 & James Bertoncini 1.  Awards went to Jake Muia, who played hard all night Jack Goodall ever Mr Reliable and Ned Dibella also featured in the awards.
