Raiders Under 12’s Victory

by Connor McHugh

Last Friday the Under 12 Port Douglas Raiders Rugby Union team entered the Trinity Anglican School seven aside rugby union competition and came out victorious. The boys put in a lot of effort to win convincingly in all games during the carnival.

Here's a quick round up of how it unfolded.

Game 1
: The boys struggled at first not knowing the rules but still came out on top winning 22-0. Players of the match were Dean McCarthy and Tom Allen with their defence which helped the boys to an easy victory.

Game 2: The Raiders played well as a team with each player scoring a try. A special mention goes out to Dhareese Bowen for his double try and great goal kicking.

Game 3: Again the boys displayed great attack winning 48-0 with Under 11 Campbell Allen receiving Man of the Match honours and captain Tully Cartwright putting in an outstanding effort.

Game 4: Unfortunately in Game 4 the Raiders let in the only try scored against them in the whole carnival, leaving the final score to be 46-7. Man of the Match Aaron Dunwell, and top try scorer Angus Dickson were very valuable contibutors the team’s effort.

Grand final: Confidence was high having not lost a game throughout the day, and it certainly showed by beating the opposition 46-0 in the last game of the carnival. Man of the Match Matthew Chesterfield was no doubt not only a great player but a great team mate.

Overall the Raiders were undefeated throughout the day, winning all five games. Each player scored three or more tries and the boys all had great fun.
