H2Whooaa! Rains bring awesome adventure
White water rafting has resumed on the Tully and Barron Rivers with tourists experiencing an awesome adventure on the swollen rivers.
Raging Thunder took its first guests after Cyclone Yasi on the Tully River and guides were amazed at the clarity of the water.
RnR White Water Rafting has recommenced operations on the Tully and Barron Rivers and has been running rafting trips on the Mulgrave River, as has Foaming Fury.
Frankland Islands Cruise & Dive to the south of Cairns also took its first passengers to the islands.
Managing Director Ron Cusick was amazed to discover the eastern and western sides of the islands were untouched with minor vegetation damage and shifted sand requiring attention.
“There were plenty of fish in the water and the corals were still feeding. In some places the corals were yellow and showing signs of stress just like they do after heavy rain,” he said. “I was looking for the spaghetti coral and it emerged from hiding in front of me. It’s amazing how nature protects itself.”
